Verification vs calibration.
What is the difference?
Verification and calibration are often confused but serve different purposes.
Verification is a routine check to confirm that equipment is operating as expected and remains within acceptable limits. It supports day to day confidence but does not formally certify or adjust the equipment.
Calibration is a formal process carried out by a competent provider using traceable reference standards. It confirms compliance with defined standards and includes adjustment where required, providing documented evidence of accuracy and traceability.
Some equipment requires periodic calibration, while other equipment may only require routine verification. The correct approach depends on the equipment, its use and applicable guidance.
For advice on the most appropriate and proportionate approach, please contact OH Partners.
Why don't we service / calibrate Keystone Vision Screeners?
We only calibrate or service equipment where recognised medical standards or manufacturer guidance recommend routine calibration, verification, or servicing to ensure ongoing performance and compliance.
Some devices, including Keystone vision screeners, are designed to function on a pass or fail basis. They either operate as intended or they do not, and there is no recognised method to calibrate or verify performance against a defined medical or manufacturer standard. As a result, routine servicing or calibration cannot be meaningfully performed.
We do not offer a service where performance cannot be objectively checked or verified. However, if a Keystone vision screener is faulty, damaged, or not functioning correctly, we are of course happy to support with troubleshooting, repair, or replacement advice where possible.
